Huawei has quietly outed a new firmware update (version B209) for its Ascend Y300 smartphone in Germany. This software update is apparently aimed at fixing the widely-known OpenSSL 'Heartbleed' security bug that can give hackers access to devices through MITM (middle-in-the-man) attacks.
general firmware fix this is an all rounder firmware fix for a huawei y300 (assume other huawei phones won't be much different) as long as you can get to that pink screen (download mode) cuz if you can get to the pink, your phones not a brick yet ^^

The motherboard has crushed in my Y300 so it was replaced with the new one under Huawei warranty. With new motherboard new IMEI has come and so on. And now, nobody in Huawei or via DC-Unlocker can get me unlocking code- there is none (?!). So I ask u guys, is there a way to skip the process of getting bootloader code to install custom roms?

Select a device or unknown and press on the open button. You’ll see the content of the update.app file in the listview. Select one or more files and right click. Choose Extract selected from the context menu. Choose the ouput folder and press OK. Or just right click on the list and select Extract all, choose the output folder again and press OK.
